So Jesus was brought before Caiaphas, the High Priest and one of the great villains of the piece. The other villain we read about here is Simon Peter, in the lead up to his great betrayal of his Master.

Which do you most identify with, the career politician with a very loose understanding of truth, or the weak disciple, who understands truth but doesn’t act on it out of fear. Do we deny truth or ignore it? This week is Holocaust Remembrance week, where truth is again under fire. There are Churches refusing to host them out of fear. Are they, too, denying their Master?
