MATTHEW 19:30 - 20:16

The key teaching of the parable of the workers in the vineyard is expressed in the very last line, So the last will be first and the first will be last. That’s about as counter-cultural as you can get in the current climate. There’s a new phenomenon on the streets, at least where I live, regarding bus queues. They are now a free for all and the first to join the queue is often the last to actually board the bus. It is so un-British! Yet it seems to fit this parable!

But seriously, the main point here is that we must be content with what we get and not to get jealous of any who may ‘jump the queue’. God may favour someone else sometimes in a manner that you think is unfair. It is not to God, it is His plan for their life and your life. We just have to learn to be accepting.
