MATTHEW 26:59-68, MARK 14:55-65
There’s a popular saying, a hill to die on. It refers to a conscious decision by you to fight a particular battle, rather than just letting it go. I’m thinking that this episode in Jesus’ life may be the origin of the saying. He has always been in complete control of the narrative of his life and now decides, at his trial, that it was time to utter the words that are going to lead to his death – to make it clear to the religious authorities that he was the Messiah, the Son of God.
We are faced with many potential battles but we can’t fight them all. We must choose to fight those that you feel God is urging us to fight. There may be sacrifices to be made, it may be awkward or worse, but we must not shirk our duty if God compels us. Pray for wisdom in such matters.
