Well I’ve been hearing the warnings since I was a Christian ‘newbie’ nearly forty years ago. Jesus is coming soon, really! After a time of hearing this continuously, you can get a bit jaded. This was me up to a couple of years ago. But now … well … perhaps!

Yes, he is coming back, perhaps nearer than we think. But rather than shouting it from the rooftops and espousing your particular flavour of eschatological certainty, how about listening to Jesus’ wise words: “But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. “
