The chief priests and the elders continued in their attack against Jesus, in order to delegitimise him. They questioned his authority and where it came from. He refused to confirm to them what they probably already knew, but would not admit to.

We share this authority. Jesus received his authority from his Father and so do we. Yet we rarely exercise it. Why would that be? Perhaps fear, perhaps uncertainty. Either way, we could probably be a lot more effective if we really believed in this authority. Perhaps all we need it a bit more boldness. Perhaps we will surprise ourselves …?
