MATTHEW 21:1-11, MARK 11:1-11, LUKE 19: 29-44, JOHN 12: 12-19
As Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, there was a great expectation of the coming of the conquering King. This explains the tree branches and the triumphant atmosphere. But, instead, he had come to die. His kingship was forestalled. Within a few days, those expectant people would be scattered, disappointed and perhaps feeling let down.
We too can have expectations. They may come from a good place and an open heart, but they may also be unrealistic. When we partner with God in our lives, it is key that we line up our expectations with His Will. Only when the two work together can we expect a successful outcome. Sometimes it is necessary to wait for this, something that doesn’t always come easily.
