LUKE 23:6-12
And so, when he caught the name Galilee as the scene of Jesus’ labours. He gladly seized on the prospect of switching the responsibility to another. Jesus was a Galilean and therefore belonged to the jurisdiction of King Herod. So, Jesus was now sent to Herod who had come for the Feast to Jerusalem, living in the old Maccabean palace close to that of the High Priest.
The opportunity now offered was welcome to Herod. It was a mark of reconciliation between himself and the Roman and in a manner flattering to himself since the first step had been taken by the Governor. In fact, Herod had long wished to see Jesus, of whom he had heard so many things. In that hour, curiosity and the hope of seeing some magic performances were the only feelings that moved the Tetrarch. But in vain did he batter Jesus with questions. He was as silent to him as formerly against the virulent charges of the Sanhedrists.
