First there will be grief, then joy. This is Jesus instructing his disciples to endure the grief of his departure, but to wait patiently for the joy that will come on his return. Of course it is a little different now. Jesus’ return is the BIG event we are all waiting for, perhaps with more reason now than ever before, with the sorry state of a world that seems on such a downward trajectory. We need to be patient, but not just to moan and sit on our hands. Surely now, whatever mission God has given us, we should take more seriously than ever. There’s a big hurtin’ world out there, what are you doing to make it better?
