Is there anyone out there ? (part 3)

In fact we only have to look at one chapter, in the Book of Deuteronomy (the fifth book of the Bible), originally written over 3000 years ago, to see predicted the whole history of the Jews from that date to the present.

In Chapter 28 it talks about:

* being scattered among all the nations, from one end of the earth to the other (verse 64)

* finding no peace anywhere, no place to call your own. You'll be overwhelmed with anxiety, hopelessness and despair. (verse 65)

* life always in danger. Day and night filled with terror, living in constant fear of death. (verse 66)

* hearts pounding with fear at everything you see. Every morning you will wish for evening; every evening you will wish for morning. (verse 67).

If you don't believe me, read the chapter for yourself, starting at verse 15. If you do so and read with an open mind, you will be re-living the tragedy that is Jewish history.

Verses 15 to 63 refer to Biblical times, up until the final destruction of Jerusalem in 70 C.E.

Verses 64 to 68 cover the period of the Diaspora, from then to the present.

Now read again the start of this section at verse 15 and read the key word. The key word is disobedience. Jewish history was never meant to happen in the way it did. If we are to believe these words in the Bible, given by God himself to Moses, along with the Ten Commandments, then we see that there is an element of self-infliction, in Jewish History.

This is a big subject and volumes have been written on it but, if we are to believe in the Bible as the Word of God then we have to come to the conclusion that the tragedy of Jewish history has come about through their disobedience, in some way.

Does this make you angry? Why are you angry? Are you angry at me for making this self-righteous comment? If so, then feel sorry for me, not angry, because I am being foolish enough to believe these things and I am obviously misguided, because (surely) it is not as black and white as all that! Or are you angry at God for his harsh treatment of his chosen people? If you are, then my words must be getting to you - what are you doing shaking your fists at someone that you are not sure exists? If so, believe me, there is more to it than that because (indeed) it is not as black and white as all that!
